Storm Season is Here: What to Watch For
3/16/2021 (Permalink)
We are all looking forward to a warmer weather as the spring season begins. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind to help you stay safe during any disaster this time of the year.
Severe changes in weather temperatures can trigger disasters such as thunderstorms, flooding, and tornadoes. As we go throughout the season, be sure to prepare yourself and your loved ones for weather disasters:
- Thunderstorms are common during the spring and summer seasons. Due to the way they originate, these can happen anytime and anywhere. The most common consequence can be roof damage due to trees falling near your home. If you notice roof damage, contact a local roofing contractor and reach out to SERVPRO if that led to any water damage within your home.
- Hail and heavy rain are frequent due to the drastic temperature changes that are common in the spring. Intense storms can produce hail leading to severe roof damage. Be sure to keep your gutters clean for rainwater to flow freely to the ground and avoid flooding in your basement or crawlspace. If you experience flooding in your home, contact SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties right away so we can remove the moisture and help you avoid mold damage.
- Windstorms and tornadoes are also common during this time of the year. Make sure to identify a safe room for you and your family to go when a disaster occurs. Following high winds or tornadoes, be on the lookout for fallen trees that are around your house and look for missing roof shingles and gutter damage.
We at SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties are committed to helping our community no matter what season it is.
