Commonly Forgotten House Fire Hazards
8/3/2021 (Permalink)
To avoid a house fire, many people know to take certain precautionary measures such as blowing out candles, cleaning the lint out of the dryer, and not overloading electrical outlets. However, there are several other hazardous items that you might forget about.
Keep your home safe from the possibility of a house fire by remembering to check these items:
- Unplug all hair styling devices after use.
- Avoid using old space heaters and never leave them turned on unattended.
- Turn off the stovetop before leaving the room.
- Don’t place your Christmas tree or other flammable items near open fires or heat sources.
- Clean your chimney at least once a year before using it.
Along with taking these extra precautions, be sure that all smoke detectors in the home function properly and that your home is equipped with a fire extinguisher. Also, ensure your family is aware of the fire escape plan.
