Fire Safety Tips
2/8/2022 (Permalink)
House fires can occur at any moment and are traumatic for all involved. Being prepared for a house fire can help minimize further damage. It’s especially important to have a plan if you live in a home with children, pets, or other family members.
How can you be prepared for a house fire?
- Have an emergency exit plan mapped out, educating all who live in the home of the exits that should be used. Also, plan who is responsible for grabbing important documents or items as well as pets.
- Keep copies of important documents in a fire-safe container or something that can easily be accessed during your emergency evacuation.
- Know where your gas shut-off valves are located in case you begin to smell smoke throughout the home. This can alleviate further damage that can occur if gas is leaking.
- Ensure smoke alarms are located on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and test alarms monthly.
